Phishing victim accuses Bank of Ireland of inadequate security
ElecticNews.net August 9, 2006, by Sylvia Leatham

A university professor has hit out at the security measures used by Bank of Ireland's online service after he was tricked into paying out EUR15,500 to fraudsters. The professor, who does not wish to be named, fell victim to a phishing scam and is alleging that the bank failed to sufficiently warn its customers that fraudsters were targeting its site. The bank denies this, and the case has been referred to the Ombudsman for Financial Services. A Bank of Ireland spokeswoman said around a dozen people have fallen prey to the scam.
